It’s Day 6 and the final day of Ginger Wroot’s Beauty Week! This is a review of both Maybelline’s Mineral Power Powder Foundation and Maybelline’s Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Loose Powder, and I’m awarding 5 stars out 5 to both of these loose mineral face powders by Maybelline.
Loose mineral makeup powders are still relatively new in the makeup world, although I’ve been using Maybelline’s Power Powders almost every day for about three years now–that’s how much I love this stuff! Maybelline’s loose mineral makeup powder, when applied over liquid foundation or bb cream, gives a natural, but elegant matte finish to my face. It doesn’t crease, and looks fabulous all day long, even on hot summer days.
I first brush on the Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation, and then top it with a dusting of the Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Powder.
I use the #910 Classic Ivory color for the Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation. It also comes in the colors Creamy Natural, Natural Ivory, Nude, Pure Beige, and the newest, Translucent. See the colors as shown here. The Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Powder is lighter and more fine, and very nicely enhances the overall finish when brushed on top, leaving a flawless and polished look.
I won’t lie…using these mineral powders by Maybelline can be slightly messy, since the container’s design allows some loose powder to escape when you unscrew the top. Not a big deal, really, but something I wanted to point out.
L’Oreal’s True Match Mineral Foundation is somewhat similar to Maybelline’s, but L’Oreal’s brand of mineral powder seems heavier and almost oily in comparison, and fails to leave that silky and natural matte finish that Maybelline’s powder gives. I also don’t care for L’Oreal’s brush design, which is difficult to hold and balance in my fingers. The brushes that come with the Maybelline mineral powders, on the other hand, do a fine job. When I travel, I place the Maybelline powder containers and brushes in a little plastic zip lock baggie and I’m good to go.
If you haven’t tried Maybelline’s Mineral Power Powder Foundation and Maybelline’s Mineral Power Finishing Veil Translucent Loose Powder yet, then you might want to! Priced at Walmart as of the week of this post for $8.52. A container usually lasts me four to five months. You can find Maybelline’s Mineral Power Powders at most drugstores and groceries, and there are other brands, like L’Oreal’s, available as well.
It’s been a blast bringing you some reviews and tips during Ginger Wroot’s Beauty Week! I do hope that all of your days to come will be filled with beauty, inside and out!
All of my opinions are independent and unbiased, and I received no samples, payments, or financial incentives from Maybelline, Walmart, or any other company for this review.
