Know what the Wroot Wore Wednesday? This peplum sheath dress by Ralph Lauren Chaps paired with a crochet bolero jacket by Freshman.
I found this sheath dress at Kohl’s last year, and immediately fell in love with its tailored peplum styling and flattering lines.
Shown above and below is the dress without the jacket. Oh, and please just ignore the jacket’s black fuzz on the boob–ha!
But with fall just around the corner, I wanted a little something to cover the capped sleeves of the dress so as to extend it into the cooler months.
So I decided to pair it with this crochet bolero jacket. You might remember that I did another What the Wroot Wore Wednesday post featuring this jacket in an aqua color over a black dress. This lightweight shrug is just enough to take away the chill, and also keeps the outfit a bit more modest for the office.
And I love the way the pretty crochet pattern shows up against the gray. The overall look is tailored, but still feminine, don’t you think?
I thought I would include a couple of photos that I realized later show my photography shoot set-up…yep, as revealed by the reflection behind me, it’s just my camera and me.
My 4/3 Panasonic G2 Lumix camera is mounted on an inexpensive tripod, and I set a ten-second timer on the camera for each shot. I plan to get an inexpensive hand-held remote soon, which hopefully will save me rushing back and forth between poses and the camera for what seems like a million times.
For this outfit, I decided to forego a necklace so as to keep the focus on the lines and patterns of the bolero jacket…sometimes less is more!
And sometimes less color is more. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been fascinated with black and white photography. Somehow, a black and white photo allows us to really see what’s in the frame, in a way we just can’t in color.
Peplum sheath dress by Ralph Lauren Chaps purchased last year at Kohl’s (sold out, similar in floral and similar in black), black crochet bolero jacket by Freshman purchased this summer at Kohl’s (sold out, similar), black pumps by Franco Sarto (similar), various silver jewelry pieces are all older gifts.
