Know what the Wroot Wore Wednesday? Just a bit of color provided by a scarf, jewelry, and boot socks.

The grays and blacks in this outfit provide sort of a “canvas” for some small but colorful pieces that really pop against the neutral background.

I was inspired by this recent post by the ever-stylish Heather at Forage Fashion to tie a colorful scarf around my wrist instead of my neck…I totally dig this chic look!

I’ll be the first to admit that I love wearing black and gray, and always have. Lately, though, I’ve made a conscious effort to add a bit more color to my outfits and jazz things up some.

The bright colors of the scarf and necklace don’t overwhelm or look garish, since the rest of the outfit is so understated.

I happened upon this three-quarter sleeved handkerchief hem striped gray cardigan years ago–it looks especially great with leggings and boots.

The boots by Franco Sarto are set off by the colorful aqua of the socks. I find that these medium-height boots are both comfortable and work stylishly with lots of outfits. And isn’t the black suede rim at the top of the boots a nice little touch? Wear this outfit to the grocery and then out on the town that night: it's What the Wroot Wore Wednesday!

This is one of those outfits that I feel at ease wearing to the grocery during the day, and then out for drinks in the evening…

If you want to freshen up some of your more neutral or drabber pieces, try adding just a bit of color like I did here!
