It’s Day 3 of Ginger Wroot’s Beauty Week! Today, I want to tell you about my recent discovery of green-tinted face primers, and more specifically, e.l.f.’s Tone Adjusting Face Primer in Neutralizing Green. I’m awarding this wonderful primer 5 stars out of 5.

Tone Adjusting Green Primer by e.l.f.: so glad I found this!

Until just a couple of months ago, I had never used a pigmented face primer. But when I came across this e.l.f.’s neutralizing green primer at a discount clothing store, I decided to finally to buy it and try it. And am I ever so glad that I did! Martha Stewart, among others, refers to face primers as a makeup artist’s secret weapon. I totally get that now! This primer does two things that are good for my face. First, it noticeably smooths my skin by filling in small pores and wrinkles with a silky but non-greasy silicone formula.

Secondly, the color of the green pigment neutralizes my naturally reddish skin tones. This primer is quite viscous, and only a little of the lotion is needed to spread all over my face.

e.l.f. Face Primer: the back of the box

e.l.f.’s Neutralizing Green Face Primer allows the makeup applied on top to go on more smoothly and look more natural too. You can find all sorts of primers, from clear light-diffusing ones, to mattifying ones, to color-neutralizing ones. Vogue gives a great run-down of some primers for summer.  I found this .47 ounce bottle of e.l.f. Neutralizing Green Face Primer at Walmart for six dollars.
